This work invites us, on the one hand, to familiarize ourselves with various historical periods and traditions of Japanese thought (Buddhist, Confucian, Shinto and modern academic philosophical) and, on the other, to know in depth and dialogue with seven great philosophers: Kukai, Shinran , Dogen, Sorai, Norinaga, Nishida and Watsuji.
Its merit lies only in chronologically presenting a series of Japanese thinkers and their works, concepts and theories, or describing the historical, social and cultural context in which they register. What makes the route proposed by the author exceptional and fascinating is that, in addition to exposing different ideas, their conditioning and impact, it challenges the reader to philosophize with the thinkers who formulated them, assess their arguments and question their own positions.
