A book that intertwines, without forcing concepts or arguments, medicine, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, music, poetry, philosophy, humanism and a sense of humour. Its themes refer both to the use of art in psychotherapy, and to reflections and research on the link between art and science that reflect the amazement of the author exulted at seeing the affinity that scientists such as Freud and Watson had with art and how this helped them in their theoretical developments. It shows how artists of the stature of Shakespeare, Beethoven or Whitman were ahead of science with their keen observations, their perceptions and intuitions. Herbert Read already said, many years ago, that: "Art is representation and science is an explanation of reality itself". For this reason, he shares Freud's "discovery" and his "brotherhood" with Beethoven.

In this way, she incorporates, among other things, art in the care practice: poetry and writing, singing and songs, music. What is present in the author is the seriousness and responsibility in the search for and finding the scientific explanations that will cement his practical work. Each section of the text develops an original and unique experience, as must necessarily be addressed by the therapeutic approach of each human being, which is also original and unique, with its particular history and its own possibilities. The selected cases, complex and difficult, are syntheses and fragments of some of those assisted in an extensive professional practice, since almost forty years ago, when he abandoned psychotherapeutic "orthodoxy" and began to act with greater technical freedom. Pichon-Rivière had already said: "What can be done must be done. Then we see the hows and the whys."
