Geography and Violence: A Conceptual Approach to the Spatial Basis of Structural Violence represents the third installment of the Seminar on Spatiality, Domination, and Violence, held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. The seminar's work is based on the exploration and critical reflection of the forms and processes of violence and domination through an understanding of their spatial dimension. Specifically, this book seeks to contribute to the analysis and discussion of structural violence in relation to its spatial manifestations, taking into account its conditioning factors, mechanisms, and diverse expressions, both material and symbolic.

This theoretical exercise aims to delve deeper into the debate on spatiality as a fundamental epistemological strategy for approaching the multiple contradictions we face today. In this work, this debate is conducted using Latin American cities within the current historical context, dominated by the neoliberal project, as a general point of reference.

The book begins with the premise that the spatial specificity of social relations is a fundamental theoretical line within geography, making the development of a comprehensive framework for understanding the spatiality of structural violence a relevant and necessary task. In this sense, it is hoped that the work will contribute to the consolidation of a research agenda on space, violence, and the city.
