Soft coverHugo von Hofmannsthal, poet, playwright, librettist, one of the most important German-speaking representatives of the turn of the century, born in Vienna in 1874.
He traveled to Greece in 1908 for the first and only time in his life. As a result of that trip, he wrote Instantes en Grecia, which consists of three well-known pieces in prose. In 1923 he wrote the foreword to a photo book of Greece by Hanns Holdt, Greece, which he publishes here for the first time in Spanish.
Earlier, in 1900, he wrote a play in white verse: Prologue to Sophocles' "Antigone". It is represented before the staging of the Antigone by a group of students. Hofmannsthal added another level of action and another temporality to the play by verse.
