Violence is a theme that contemporary art addresses on numerous occasions and with different language and modalities. There is nothing special about it, it is a feature of contemporary society, a scourge of the world we call modern. Artistic manifestations move in a horizon that some will describe as ambiguous: they denounce violence, but they also aestheticize it and turn it into a spectacle. Many times it is difficult to clearly establish the limits between denunciation and aestheticization. In addition to the work or the action, the specific context has much to say in this respect, the reception can be mediated by events and ideas, by values, feelings and emotions, and not all these factors can be expected to introduce any principle of « neutrality".
