In these lessons, Edmund Husserl (1859-1938) makes a critical exposition of the history of ethics, especially modern, that allows him to defend the validity of ethical principles rejecting the different forms of hedonism and to describe the passive and active modes of the motivation as legality of spiritual becoming. Insofar as they delimit the concept of ethics as the supreme philosophical discipline and specify the meaning of the best possible life, these texts serve as a hinge between the formal ethics of the Göttingen period and the metaphysical writings, in which addresses the possibility of an authentic existence.
