At school virtuoso, title taken from studies piano composer and pedagogue Carl Czerny, Gert Jonke plays with verve and agility with dissonances and tempo: allegro vivace: humor; pianissimo: nostalgia; furious satire, to compose a sonata rebound where fiction and reality are facing and overlap.
In the first half, "The presence of memory", a composer with problems involved in fantasy inspiration of his two friends, photographer Anton Diabelli and sister, who have decided to repeat exactly a party held the previous year. The name of the friend, namesake of the famous composer of the waltz on which Beethoven wrote his Diabelli Variations 33, seems to anticipate that some variation will stand in your project. The guests, hilarious caricatures of the Austrian bourgeoisie, will be unable to prevent the emergence of an inaccessible music that will endanger their fragile existence and will cause global storyteller to the memory of a lost love.
In the second movement "Gradus ad Parnassum," a title that refers to the exercises for piano musician Muzio Clementi, the composer goes with his brother to the conservatory where they studied, to visit his former teacher. Losses through the labyrinthine building, the brothers will go to the attic, a metaphor for the narrator's brain, where lie a new pianos but abandoned will witness the absurd difficulties that the characters face.
True artist of language, the work of Gert Jonke survive fads and already has a special place in European literature of the twentieth century.
