The history of Mexican cinema is full of countless anecdotes and situations that forged its narrative and visual personality. Eduardo de la Vega has found in our history two cases that are exemplary about cinema, literature and their impact on the censorship of his time: El compadre Mendoza (1933) and La sombra del caudillo (1960), consolidated as indisputable classics of Mexican cinema. A mixture of biography, film analysis, historical review and document on censorship mechanisms, the volume is a deeply documented dissertation on two episodes that in the long run are emblematic for the development of our cinema.
