He holds a PhD in film history from the Autonomous University of Madrid; collaborated in the UNAM Film Library and the Cineteca Nacional; professor, researcher and coordinator at the Center for Research and Cinematographic Studies of the University of Guadalajara. Member of the National System of Researchers, level II. He has published criticism and essays on various cinematographic aspects and monographs about the life and work of Mexican filmmakers and actors. His essay From the Wall to the Screen. S. M. Eisenstein y el arte pictórico mexicano won the Luis Cardoza y Aragón National Prize for Plastic Arts Criticism (1995). Its dissemination work highlights the organization of the six editions of the National Colloquium on the History of Regional Cinema and the advice and curatorship of several exhibitions on history and aesthetics of Mexican cinema.
