The pages gathered in this book pertinently articulate a consistent body of contributions united in an argumentative community both in the epistemic order and in the political and ideological order. Here we find an important contribution to the already abundant bibliography focused on one of the dynamic proposals of the Peruvian sociologist, Aníbal Quijano, that of the marginal pole. Starting from the initial pages that emphasize the indisputable presence in that thought of the structural conception of the social and of the Mariateguian aspect, which is usually overlooked, the following pages weave a plot so compact that it allows us to arrive at the reading of the final article as if a story had been put together that only needed that precise outcome. The different perspectives on what marginality implies in our territories only serve to accentuate – in detailed analyses of experiences “in place” – the implications of colonial difference, another of the central approaches that Quijano later offered for a better understanding of “subalternized” societies. These pages, then, are demonstrative of the productivity of an idea – and of a thought – that is not exhausted in itself, but rather expands in the engendering of what we know today as the decolonial option.
