The poet, painter and engraver William Blake (1757-1827) is one of the few genuinely imaginative poetic minds, creator of a mythical world in a unique depth and coherence in European culture. His "prophetic" message, which proclaims to the four winds the devastating consequences of the separation of the human mind to its object, nature, and demands the restoration of the original unity of being, does not mean to Blake anticipation of future events divine inspiration, as the biblical prophets, but the ability to receive visions revealed by top agents.
This bilingual edition, by Bernardo Santano, first meets all of their "prophetic" works. The second volume, comprising Milton poem in two books (1804-1810) and Jerusalem, the Emanation of the Giant Albion (1804-1820), concludes with a comprehensive glossary, essential for an adequate understanding of the names and complex concepts blakeano mythological world.
