The anthropology of women is a subject that has not been treated in our academic environment from a scientific perspective with the breadth, depth and creativity with which it is approached in this text ... the anthropological study of the female condition is a scientific contribution that comes to fill a gap in gender studies from Anthropology. Due to this lack of anthropological interpretations of women, Dr. Lagarde has had to create her own categories of analysis that come to enrich the epistemological instruments of her discipline. I am referring specifically to the concept of captivity, which denotes differential features within the traditional interpretation of the feminine condition of oppression, and to that extent distinguish it, in its specificity, from other oppressions, such as that of race, marginalized group and others. ... The argumentation throughout the text is solid, flexible and not dogmatic, it shows a very wide capacity for observation, together with Marcela Lagarde's erudition and will to know. All of which translates into a fluid literary expression, simple, but not simple. The conclusions he reaches cover the hypotheses that are posed at the beginning of the work: the liberation of women from their captivity, based on the strategies that are detailed.
