From his birth Medardo was called to atone for the sins of a criminal lineage. His early inclination to monastic life, his piety and his keen intelligence soon led him to stand out among his brothers in the congregation, but the appearance of a mysterious relic, an elixir that the devil himself gave to Saint Anthony for his perdition, will cut short his virtuous path. Medardo will then face worldly life, a life that in his case will be plagued with lies, confusion and death.
