Devotion to martyrs and the material culture born of this phenomenon is a topic rarely covered in historiography and social sciences. For this reason, this work presents a series of analyzes on the artifacts and cultural practices around this devotion in Mexico. The research that makes up this book addresses the importance of images in Catholicism; the construction of hagiographic narratives in the various Christian denominations; the preservation and transformation of martyrdom memory, as well as the changes - often abrupt - in the narratives that derive from these phenomena in light of political and social events.
