This new edition of the Spanish Grammar Manual is a pedagogical proposal aimed at university students in the first courses and teachers of various levels who wish to update their knowledge of Spanish grammar: It exposes the fundamental issues of Spanish syntax, as well as as its relationship with the lexicon and the discourse, from the theoretical concepts and the methodological principles necessary for the description of the language. In this way it is an introduction to more advanced studies in theoretical linguistics. More than a mere exposition of theoretical topics, this work intends for the reader to learn to "do grammar" in the sense that they get used to observing the functioning of the linguistic system, to reflect systematically on the language and to argue to support the positions they adopt. .

To this end, each chapter contains a wide range of exercises aimed at the comprehensive understanding of the topics: the criterion that has been privileged has been to promote the identification of the units and the construction of structures in accordance with the slogans, the foundation of the analysis and selection among alternative proposals.
