The social scientist, regardless of the research he does, must know how to apply qualitative and quantitative social research tools, because beyond the preference of a paradigm, the selection of any methodology must be consistent with the problematization of reality, the complexity of the object of study, the theory and the questions asked of the data. In Heterogeneous Views of the Social Sciences from Econometric Methods, a group of qualitative researchers took on the challenge of incorporating quantitative techniques into their research, and posed new questions and explanations to social phenomena from Sociology, Political Sciences and Public Policies.
