From St. Peter's dome you can see all the notables of Rome: Castel Sant'Angelo and the Colosseum, the seven hills on which the city was built, the Tiber. You can see the wide, green countryside, stretching up to the mountains, covered with crumbling arches and aqueducts on the ground. At our feet lie the remains of a city that housed, in its days of splendor, four million souls.
