The Workshop on Taquimecanography was founded in the spring of 2004 as a collective creation experiment. Aura Estrada, Gabriela Jáuregui, Laureana Toledo and Monica de la Torre began an exquisite corpse in several rounds, as open and proliferating as the medium that served as a link: the internet. They were not interested in defining overly restrictive procedures, but in generating materials that would be bound by sometimes secret threads. The initial pretext was the furniture found on the street, the urban objects left to their fate in the cities where they resided: New York, Los Angeles, London and Mexico City.
