The Therigatha (literally "Poems of wise old women" or women who have grown in wisdom) is considered the first universal anthology of feminine literature. It is about the poems that were transmitted by the first women who joined the Buddhist order. Therefore, they form a testimony of the utmost importance to know the Buddhism of the origins, a material that was later incorporated into the Buddhist canon in the Pali language. Its spiritual quality and literary depth is unparalleled. And, however, to date they had not been translated or published in Spanish. This edition has been carefully translated by the poet Jesús Aguado. Each poem comes contextualized (with the biographical material available from each author) and it has been attempted that the final result is as poetic as possible according to the stylistic and rhetorical criteria of the Castilian language.
