The students and teachers who today have to struggle and thrive in the educational system are caught in a contradiction. On the one hand, they are under the requirement to be innovative in the results they produce and for which they will be judged: from research projects to articles for professional journals, through end-of-degree projects and master's and doctoral theses. But, on the other hand, the pedagogical system does not encourage the much desired originality. Our formal education gives priority to the accumulation and repetition of knowledge about "know-how". In this book twelve social scientists try to put educational and scientific system on par with their own demands. To achieve this, the authors have fled the ornate and distant style of the Manual of Methods to use. On the contrary, with a plain and close language, they share with the reader the tricks of their trade. The book has three sections. The first groups the chapters dedicated to presenting fundamental tools: writing, reading, bibliographic and data search, and preparation of research projects. In the second and third parts, each researcher tells how he carried out specific research with qualitative, quantitative or both data. In short, it is a book of great interest for both students and teachers and professionals in social and human sciences research.
