This prose work, which was first titled The Pagan Book, was written when Rimbaud was barely 19 years old and after breaking up with his partner Paul Verlaine, who shot him. Here, the author tries to express his failure as a man and poet through tortured prose poems, which years later would revolutionize poetry. As the title indicates, it is a transitory experience, barely overcome. It is composed of nine parts, in which the author tries to resurrect sensations, visions and feelings, the passage and presence of himself. In this work, the author's determined purpose to restore language to its implicit and explicit meaning can be appreciated. From the set of poems that make it up, some themes stand out: innocence and guilt, ecstasy of the senses and ecstasies of the soul, domination and submission, rebellion and punishment, etc. Paul Verlaine considered Rimbaud to be "the man with wind soles. It is useless to pursue him. Such is his speed that no one will ever catch up with him. Not even I could catch up with him through crime.” Emil Cioran said: “If Rimbaud survives the fluctuations of fashion, he owes it to the gratuitousness of his cruelty, to his demonic surgery, to the generosity of his bile. In the prologue, Marco A.
