This book is an enthusiastic, rational, and radical plea for the liberation of our creative energies, currently trapped under the irrationality of capitalism. Each essay offers an overview of the contradictions of the system that reigns in every sphere of our lives, but also of the possible ways to overcome it. It argues that the Cold War was, above all, a long hiatus during which neoliberalism seemed to impose itself as the only alternative in our imagination, but that since then, there have been tens, hundreds, thousands of alternative historical experiences in the Global South, from Latin America and Africa to India and Asia. It also argues that our daily practice is brimming with the ingenuity necessary to ignite the engines of revolutionary action. We can reprogram technology to foster freedom and human autonomy on a finite planet marked by inequality, finally overcoming the processes of expropriation, privatization, financialization, surveillance, and alienation.
