Kadare currently lives between Paris and Tirana. For years he is a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature, and in 2005 he won the International Prize Man Booker Prize. His books, mainly novels have been translated into more than forty languages. Many of them were written in the period of the Stalinist regime of Enver Hoxha, under conditions of brutal censorship. But Kadare not claim to have been a dissident. About his work created during this period, says: "I normally literature in a non-normal time."
