Norman Bethune was born in Gravenhurst, Canada in 1890. He participated as an orderly in the First World War. After training as a physician and provide some valuable innovations to the field of medicine he attended the Spanish Civil War and worked in a unit transfusions.
Restless and irascible by nature, after passing through Spain, this communist-from conviction rather than party- decided to move to China during the war with Japan with the intention to build a hospital and medical training that would help mitigate the disaster above them . In China he met his death, and with it the "glory" in 1939.
