Jordi Esteva (Barcelona 1951) Writer and photographer, Interested in East Africa and has lived five years in Cairo. His books include: The oasis of Egypt, One Thousand and One Voices of Arab societies faced with the challenge of modernity, Journey to the land of souls about African animism and Arab Sea: The Search for Arab sailors who plied the Indian in their sailboats along the route of the monsoon. He directed the film Return to the land of souls on trance ceremonies and rituals of animists possession of the Akan in Ivory Coast.
