Jean André's Socrates Festugiere (1898-1982) is a classic study, written with passion and conviction Hellenist believer. Their arguments are part of the neo-Platonic current clerical tradition, born in France in the interwar, and later would Hadot Pierre Michel Tardieu and their worthy successors.

Festugiere then debate between the figure of Socrates in its extreme rarity: as ironist, midwife, gadfly, torpedo fish, musician and dancer; and one-of apologetic bias highlighting the righteous, pious, wise, humble, confident and be guided by a divine force man.

Festugiere elegant prose finds its perfect complement in the translation of the Alicante poet Juan Gil-Albert.
