Vatsyayana (c. III-V centuries AD) was a Brahmin connoisseur of ancient sacred teachings of kamashastra ("science of love"). He wrote the Kamasutra order to summarize, in the form of a brief handbook accessible to all, these ancient teachings he considered essential for the successful development of society.
