The complete works of José Ángel Valente are structured in two blocks: the work of creation (poetry and prose) and the essay. They collect both books that the author published in life as unpublished or scattered texts that enrich the image of his work; Among them many poems never printed that Valente preserved in his archive, as well as essays to date not compiled in book and that belong to different phases of its evolution.

The first volume brings together his lyric work, followed by the poetic translations, of the prose work and of a large set of youthful poems before his first book (A modo de esperanza, 1955) and which never saw the light, as well as poems Of the period of maturity that for one reason or another have remained unpublished until the present; To them are added the poems not collected in book. The volume provides new elements of judgment to value the work of a poet decisive in the Hispanic poetry of the twentieth century.
