Joan Margarit (Sanaüja, 1938). He was born in Sanaüja, district of La Segarra, during the Spanish Civil War, when the Aragón front was already close to those lands. Catalan poet who writes his own versions in Spanish. Premi Nacional de les Lletres of the Generalitat de Catalunya and National Poetry Prize of the Ministry of Culture. He considers poetry to be one of the few shelters against the moral inclemency in which men and women live. As the end of one of his poems says, "Poetry is today / the last house of mercy."
