The Mexican Revolution also occurred in the plastic arts. If the popular revolt produced profound changes in the countryside and the cities, the renewed activity of muralists, painters and engravers during the armed stage and especially after it transformed the political and social scope of graphics and painting. In the first decades of the twentieth century, the links between the workers' movement - increasingly protagonist in a society focused on factory production and urban life - and the workers of the brush, the gouge and the easel were strengthened: the representation of the workers , with their characteristic jumpsuits, and the organization of the plastic creators in organizations similar to unions are examples of that fertile symbiosis, accurately analyzed by John Lear in this work. Publications such as El Machete or the CROM Magazine, groups such as the Revolutionary Artists and Writers League, organizations such as the Mexican Electricians Union, events such as the Spanish Civil War or the oil expropriation led to innovative and bold forms of collaboration between both classes of workers.
