The Old Testament accommodates books and texts of diverse historical and theological origin but which are in relationship and dialogue with one another. The project of a literary history of the Old Testament aims to bring together, from a historical-critical perspective, different disciplines of the Old Testament studies, paying special attention to the intra-biblical exegesis and situating the theological discussions of the Old Testament in their historical contexts. The framework of literary history proposed here is developed on three levels: the historical epochs, the various literary fields, and the specific literary positions and works.
