Eduardo, the protagonist of this novel, has committed a misdemeanor for which he has been sentenced to one year of community work, which consists of reading novels at home to sick or retired people. Despite his seductive manly voice, he is unable to get involved in the books he reads and barely captures the meaning of the words that parade before his eyes. His listeners reproach him and the kind home visits turn into conflicting situations that will force Eduardo to question himself as an individual. Caught between the provincial boredom of an eternally spring city and the danger of prevailing crime, it will allow itself to be dragged into a series of sinister events that will unexpectedly place it at the heart of that elderly population that has suddenly been seen forced to devote much of his life.
