Ranajit Guha

Ranajit Guha, born in 1923 in the former British province of Dhaka (in Bengal), is the most prominent member of the group of so-called "junior studies." From 1959 he emigrated to the United Kingdom where he was a professor at the University of Sussex. Among his most important works, in addition to the present work, is his monumental study on peasant revolts under British rule: "Elementary Aspects of Peasant Insurgency in Colonial India."
