Throughout his seventeen years of life, Silvie has learned from his father, an iron Age history buff, how the ancient Britons lived—what kind of robes they wore, what edible roots they collected, how they found drinking water—and also how some of their women and girls died: tied to their feet and hands, drowned in a swamp , victims of ritual sacrifices at the hands of their own tribe.
