IVANA DOBRAKOVOVÁ (Bratislava, 1982) is a writer and translator. She lives in Turin, where she is dedicated to the translation into Slovak of Italian and French authors such as Elena Ferrante, Simona Vinci, Delphine de Vigan or Emmanuel Carrère. She debuted in 2009 with the short story collection Prvá smrt ’v rodine, which was followed by Toxo in 2013. In 2010 she published her first novel, Bellevue. All of her books have been nominated for the Anasoft Litera National Narrative Award. In 2019 she won the European Union Prize for Literature for Mothers and Truckers. She is considered by critics in her country as one of the most relevant storytellers of the last thirty years.
