After receiving his doctorate in psychology from the Union Graduate School and later graduating from the Jung Institute in Zurich as a Jungian analyst, Jeffrey Raff has since practiced as a psychologist, combining this work with classes and seminars on alchemy and its relationship to Jungian psychology.
