After thirty years, Emilio Barco Royo has managed to dedicate himself to what he likes: producing vegetables for salads and material for knowledge. He spends time between his Social and Economic History and Agrarian Economics classes with the students of the University of La Rioja and his orchard and olive groves in Alcanadre (La Rioja) where he was born sixty-two years ago.
Pruning the apple trees, planting lettuce, watering the tomatoes, putting straw in the flower beds, picking green beans or sitting in the shade of the fig tree, they take root in the ideas that he later develops in a notebook. Some were published in the newspaper La Rioja, others in magazines such as Encontraste or Piedra de Rayo or were part of different collective books.
