Since the climate emergency alarm sounded a few decades ago, explorations of the origins and factors that have irremediably altered our relationship with nature have deepened. To make sense of this crisis, various concepts and narratives have been proposed, among which the Capitalocene stands out. This term considers that the environmental devastation unleashed on the planet is accompanied by processes such as colonialism, industrialization, globalization, racism, economic power, and social inequalities.
This radical history of the climate crisis refutes the idea that humans are the geophysical force responsible for this crisis and offers, instead, a historical and economic account from the 16th century to the present day that shows a correlation between the determining moments in the accumulation of capital and those of great environmental devastation.
