Adam Thirlwell

Adam Thirlwell (London, 1978) studied at Oxford. Granta magazine included him in its list of "the best young English writers" after reading in manuscript, before its publication, his first novel, Politics, which won the Betty Trask Prize: "Probably one of the books of the year, is insightful and humorous in a combination that few authors have managed to combine masterfully. A book that is a pleasure, with a capacity for observation that turns into laughter and that places Thirlwell in the uncomfortable position of “very promising”” (Kiko Amat, Rockdelux). Anagrama has also published La Huida: "A novel in which the humor is melancholic, the melancholy malicious, and the talent impressive" (Milan Kundera); «An impressive narrator. Someone whose signature alone should make The Escape one of those best sellers of the highest quality that must be displayed with pride. An unexpected miracle» (Rodrigo Fresán, ABC); «A bittersweet farce that links with the best tradition of Jewish humor. I have felt stalked, accompanied, by illustrious shadows of the great history of literature. Thirlwell playfully turns upside down the possible dogmas of 21st century English literature. With blunt intelligence... Do me the favor of retaining the name of this author. And enjoy his dizzying fiction »(Robert Saladrigas, La Vanguardia); and the essay The Multiple Novel: «I am attracted to the reflections of Adam Thirlwell. I like how he organizes his comments on originality» (Enrique Vila-Matas); «Magnificent essay... Intelligent literary treatise... Extensive and rich» (Juan Francisco Ferré). His works have been translated into more than thirty languages.
