Richard Ford (1944, Jackson, Mississippi) is the 2016 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature and has published six novels – A Piece of My Heart, The Last Chance, Fires and the trilogy starring Frank Bascombe: The Sports Journalist, The Day of Independence (Pulitzer and PEN/Faulkner prizes) and Thanksgiving–, three books of short and long stories –Rock Springs, Of Women with Men and Untold Sins–, and the short memorial book My Mother, all of them published in Anagrama , which have confirmed him as one of the best American writers of his generation: "The best active writer in this country" (Raymond Carver); «An American critic has said that Ford was in the tradition of Faulkner, Hemingway, Steinbeck...
