Chantal Mouffe (Charleroi, June 17, 1943) is a Belgian philosopher and political scientist, professor emerita at the University of Westminster in London. She is especially known for the essay Hegemony and Socialist Strategy (1985), co-written with Ernesto Laclau and considered one of the founding texts of post-Marxism, and for her conceptions of radical democracy and agonistic pluralism.
