A study of Levinas's thought is always an arduous and exciting undertaking. It is an effort not to betray the meaning of otherness that is immediately manifested in the passivity of the subject. The attempt to express this immediacy constitutes Levinas' most provocative and fruitful challenge to contemporary philosophical reflection: human existence is understood from the acceptance of an ethical meaning that inaugurates language and irreversibly links it to otherness. Such an attempt will lead our author to dialogue with the philosophers who marked the beginning of his intellectual itinerary (Husserl and Heidegger, especially), not to reject them but to radicalize the possibilities contained in their works in order to explain the ethical meaning that gives rise to the subject. The objective of this book is to expose this dialogue and present the idea of ​​subjectivity resulting from it. To do this, the author takes into account Levinas's intellectual itinerary that goes from The Theory of Intuition in Husserlian Phenomenology (1930) to Otherwise than Being or Beyond Essence (1974).
