It is a musical drama about the assassination of Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky in Mexico in August 1940 and his relationship with Mexican artists and intellectuals of the 1930s, particularly painters Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Based on this event, the libretto addresses the links between politics, art and crime that took place during the first half of the twentieth century, when numerous artists took up arms to participate in military actions and political attacks. The text is based on documentary sources, worked from a playful and contemporary perspective that plays with the decontextualized use of scenic conventions of traditional opera and music-hall, combined with techniques from Mexican muralism and formats inspired by the historical sources consulted (political manifestos, ministerial acts, iconographic analysis, police reconstruction of the facts, personal correspondence, confidential telegrams from the secret services, etc.).
