With this work, we are moving toward the creation of a theory of Modernity/Coloniality. Coloniality refers not only to a colonial world, but here we seek to show that it is constitutive of the very foundation of Modernity. Therefore, decolonization implies an internal rupture with Modernity and a move beyond it toward Transmodernity.
This work unveils the very foundation of Modernity. As far as we know, an ontological distinction has never before been made that allows, on the one hand, the analysis of each field, system, and subsystem of Modernity, and, on the other hand, simultaneously reveals the path toward a new Age of the world.
