The formula "Neither Marx without Freud nor Freud without Marx" is the guiding principle of this book. Working within the void to build bridges between Marxism and psychoanalysis, Pavón-Cuéllar defends the Freudo-Marxist heritage and perseveres in his quest to repoliticize psychoanalysis in an anti-capitalist sense. The desire for communism runs through the twelve chapters, almost all unpublished, corresponding to oral interventions made between 2013 and 2022. This book includes several historical texts, including a chronology of Freud's approaches to communism, an analysis of the political options of his followers, and some forays into the history of the Freudian left and its debates surrounding the masses and the death drive. Two chapters consider possible coincidences between Marxism and psychoanalysis. There is also a Freudian Decalogue for the communist militant and a recap of lessons from Freudo-Marxism for current social movements, as well as a synthesis of some crucial contributions by Marx to psychoanalysis and a list of reasons for being a Marxist in the Freudian field.
