Why is there widespread interest in the consumption of Japanese media products in Argentina? What are the reasons for the fascination aroused by manga and anime? How does someone so alien and far from that world become a fan of "the Japanese"? This book is part of the framework of studies on fanaticism to give some answers and propose new questions. With this objective, it focuses on the figure of the "otaku", increasingly visible both nationally and at a continental and global level. Here are the results of almost a decade of systematized reflections on fandom, its motivations, its practices and the meanings that revolve around this broad symbolic universe. It is proposed as an invitation to continue thinking about a phenomenon that has personal implications, but also collective ones. And that, increasingly, is becoming an unavoidable dimension to understand the dynamics of our culture.
