This beautiful text, originally published in 1949, aims to describe the situation of humankind. To do so, it advocates situating human beings in time, in the flow of universal history. To do so, we must not only look to the past but also think about the future, specifying how the individual's existence is inscribed and articulated within that totality that, as a product of the consciousness of each era, changes. To understand history is to understand ourselves. This edition of The Origin and Goal of History revisits Fernando Vela's translation that was first published in Revista de Occidente in 1951.
