
The reader holds in their hands a unique collection of letters in which Jorge Guillén reveals the inner workings of his sun-kissed soul to a young woman just beginning her literary studies in the 1960s. This young woman, Luce López-Baralt, corresponded with the poet between 1964 and 1982, until shortly before Guillén's death in 1983. During those long years of correspondence, they focused primarily on literary topics and each other's publications. As an exile, Guillén wanted to know what the student's professors in postwar Madrid thought of his poetry.
