Antoine François Prévost (Hesdin, France, 1697-Courteuil, France, 1763), better known as Abate Prévost, was a novelist, translator and historian. Author of novels of manners and adventure, achieved fame with Manon Lescaut. His extensive work can also be noted Aventures de Pomponius, chevalier Romain, Histoire générale des voyages, Campagnes philosophiques, Manuel lexique ou Dictionnaire des mots François portatif or Le Monde ou moral Memoires pour servir à l'histoire du cœur humain.
