Abdelá Taia

Abdelá Taia (Salé, 1973). Moroccan writer in French language. After studying literature at the Mohamed V University in Rabat, he settled in Paris in 1998, where he began his literary career. So far, he has published, among other texts, a total of six novels: My Morocco (Cabaret Voltaire, 2009, Cálamo Prize), Le Rouge du tarbouche, The Salvation Army, An Arab Melancholy, The Day of the King and Infidels. Always attentive to current Moroccan and Arab world politics, he regularly contributes opinion pieces to the international press. In 2012, he directed his first film The Salvation Army, based on his novel of the same name.
